The 11+ Exam Explained
The 11 plus exam for Berkshire and Buckinghamshire are no longer very similar. The Buckinghamshire exam board changed recently, for September 2019 entry onwards (2018 testing). Please click on on the tabs below for further details.

The 11+ Exam
The 11+ entrance examination in Berkshire is provided by the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM) at the University of Durham. The examination consists of two separate papers, each of approximately 45-50 minutes duration, containing a variety of questions which will test Verbal Reasoning (which will include an English comprehension section), Numerical Reasoning and Non-Verbal ability. Questions on both papers have a range of answer formats. Pupils indicate their answers on a separate answer sheet which is marked by a computer and must be filled in exactly as directed in the instructions. The qualification mark for Berkshire is 111. The weighting for each subject is shown below:

The 11+ Exam
The test provider for Bucks is now GL Assessment (the former provider was CEM). There are two 45-60 minute tests; each test will consist of a mixture of questions of the different topics in multiple choice format. Both tests will consist of Verbal Reasoning (which will include an English skills and comprehension section), Numerical and Non-verbal reasoning. The qualification mark for Buckinghamshire is 121. The weighting for each subject is shown below:
